The T.R.U.T.H. Sessions Program is to empower individuals within correctional settings to address underlying issues contributing to sexual offenses, promote behavior modification, and facilitate successful community reintegration.
The T.R.U.T.H. Sessions Program is an innovative initiative implemented in correctional settings, dedicated to rehabilitating individuals involved in sexual offenses. This program focuses on fostering accountability, providing therapy, incorporating restorative practices, and facilitating community restoration to support holistic rehabilitation for the participants.
The T.R.U.T.H. Sessions Program was founded by Lester L. Polk as an integral part of the Peer Mentoring Program at Chuckawalla Valley State Prison (CVSP).
Mr. Polk's participation in a restorative justice circle with the mother of his victim inspired the program's development. He saw the power of accountability and empathy to facilitate healing and personal growth.
The program has grown over time, with each cohort marking a milestone in its evolution, impacting both participants and the communities they reenter.
Participants are encouraged to take ownership of their actions, acknowledge harm caused, and explore avenues for positive change.
Therapy sessions are integrated to provide individuals with tools for personal growth, emotional healing, and coping strategies.
Engaging in restorative justice principles allows participants to contribute to healing processes and reconciliation, fostering empathy and understanding.
The program aims to rebuild relationships with family, friends, and the broader community, promoting social reintegration and support outside the correctional facility.
